Practice Experience
Erik Miles is a member-attorney in the firm who concentrates in civil litigation, business law and real estate. His civil litigation practice includes representing both plaintiffs and defendants in Cook, DuPage, Kane and Will counties. Mr. Miles’ civil litigation experience includes but is not limited to, the Consumer Fraud Act, Home Repair and Remodeling Act, Real Property Disclosure Act fraud, mortgage fraud, conspiracy, breach of contract actions and commercial leasing disputes.
Mr. Miles’ business law practice includes formation of closely held corporations, limited liability companies and limited liability partnerships. He has assisted local community businesses with formalizing their operating agreements, shareholder agreements, stock purchase and disposition agreements, and negotiating commercial leases. His real estate experience includes closing commercial and residential real estate sales and acquisitions.
His complex litigation practice includes successfully representing a client franchisee in its commercial sales transaction from the contract drafting stage to closing. This matter required negotiating terms of settlement and dismissal with said client franchisee’s commercial landlord, in his capacity as litigation counsel for the client franchisee defending alleged unpaid commercial rent, arrears, penalties, costs and fees.
Mr. Miles received his law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2007. While in law school he served as law clerk to Presiding Judge Stephen R. Pacey in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court, Paxton, Illinois. He is Co-Chair of the Chicago Bar Association, Young Lawyers Section, Diversity Committee. He resides in Lombard and enjoys participating in various Chicago area recreational sports leagues, such as soccer and softball.
